First off, you can totally upgrade all four pieces of each hero’s gear together. When you get all four pieces to 1 star, you unlock their special skill. If you level them up to 2 or 3 stars, the skill effects get even better. To enhance your gear, you’ll need some special stuff called “Equipment Enhancement Talismans,” plus a bunch of forging materials and cash.

Also, you can craft exclusive gear for your kid heroes (not the historical ones) and boost their gear using the enhancement system. You can even save these kid heroes and their gear outside the game (but there are limits), and then bring them into a new game when you start fresh.
Lastly you can further upgrade divine weapons in the workshop to boost their stats tweak their special abilities, and create cool sets. Just like with the kid heroes, you can save these enhanced weapons outside the game (again, with limits) and bring them into a new game when you restart.
