SUMMARY OF PINE A STORY OF LOSS
Pine is this super emotional and interactive short story, told through hand-drawn animation and music, that you can play in just one sitting. It is about a woodworker who is dealing with the loss of his wife. Now, he’s all alone in the glade where they lived, trying to figure out how to move on.
Every day, he does simple stuff like tending to his garden or gathering wood for the next winter, but those peaceful moments are always interrupted by memories of the happy times they shared. He does not want to forget her so he carves beautiful wooden figures to capture those memories.
Pine is all about the story and it pulls you in with simple easy-to-understand interactions that make you feel like you ae right there with the woodworker the game has some charming puzzles and mini games that celebrate the happy moments from his life with his wife while the chores he does highlight how hard it is for him to move on.
As you help the woodworker with his daily tasks, those chores will keep being interrupted by memories of his late wife. You will get to relive their best moments together playing games and building their life. It is really heartwarming but also kind of sad at the same time.
The woodworker’s carvings are really important, too. They’re these little mementos of his wife, and the carving mechanic in the game lets you actually create the carvings yourself, making each one feel like a promise that she’ll never be forgotten.
