So, Nordic Ashes: Survivors of Ragnarok is this tough-as-nails Norse-inspired roguelite-survivor game where you’re constantly battling waves of creatures coming at you from all directions. It is definitely not easy but that is what makes it so fun.
As you fight your way through you will unlock all kinds of new weapons and abilities. You can also upgrade your character’s stats using the Constellation Ability Trees which is pretty cool. Equip powerful relics and slay your enemies before they close in on you—if they surround you, it’s game over, so you better be quick!
The story kicks off during Ragnarok, when Yggdrasil (the Tree of Life) pretty much lost all its power to keep the Nine Realms going. Only a few heroes can survive the End of the World, and you get to play as some epic characters like Axeldör, a Viking warrior, Thyra, a badass ranger, or Hafgrim, the master of the elements. There are other survivors too, each with their own cool abilities.
The game features 9 maps each based on a different realm from Norse mythology so there’s a ton of variety. You can also play as 10+ characters each with their own unique weapons and skills. There’s a skill tree that’s set up like constellations, and it lets you boost each survivor’s stats as you go. Plus Yggdrasil acts as a meta-progress tree to make your character even more powerful as you progress.
