SUMMARY OF CATO: BUTTERED CAT
CATO: Buttered Cat is this super cute puzzle platformer inspired by that funny buttered-cat paradox meme. You know, the one where cats always land on their feet and toast always lands buttered side down? Well, strap a piece of buttered toast to a cat’s back and you get an endlessly spinning, floating butter-cat paradox machine!
In the game, you’ll play as “Cat” and “Buttered Toast,” and you’ll need to use their unique interactions to solve puzzles at each level. The full game has over 140 main levels 60+ side levels hidden rooms boss battles and fun mini-games. Plus, there’s an outfit system where you can collect 30+ skins for Cat and Toast.
When Cat and Toast team up, they create the paradox and can reach places that were previously out of reach. CATO will take you on a brain-teasing adventure through five different worlds each packed with cool gadgets like toaster trampolines and speedy space pipes. Along the way you will meet some mysterious companions who will help you with the puzzles.
The game is mostly about puzzles, but there’s a bit of action too. You don’t have to worry about tough platforming most of the time; just focus on solving puzzles. However there are some pesky enemies you will need to take care of with your abilities.
As you advance, you’ll unlock mini-games that you can play anytime in your cozy hideout. Plus there are hidden rooms with secret passages where you can find Easter eggs and mysterious items from other worlds. Grab them and bring them back to your hideout to deck out Cat and Toast in your favorite outfits.
Team Woll, made up of top programmer Blasin and artist Frank, created CATO: Buttered Cat after meeting at the BOOOM Gamejam 2022. Now the positive feedback from that event inspired us to officially start our studio. This is our first game, and it’s been a two-year labor of love done entirely through remote teamwork. So we hope you enjoy it and want to thank all our friends who have supported us. And our indie game journey is just beginning.
